NYSID Corporate Partnership
Passonno Paints is pleased to announce its corporate partnership with New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) to assist NYSID in fulfilling its mission of creating sustainable employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and qualified veterans. The partnership also enables NYSID the opportunity to provide surface coatings as Preferred Source Commodities to its customers, including state and local government, PBCs, school and fire districts, SUNY, CUNY, and community colleges. NYSID customers benefit from purchasing Preferred Source Commodities because they are exempt from the statutory competitive bidding requirements of New York State.
NYSID is one of three Preferred Source Agencies in New York State, established via Article XI, Section 162 of the New York State Finance Law in order to advance special social and economic goals related to the employment of New Yorkers with disabilities. Under this law, when certain commodity or service offerings meet the purchasing needs of a state or local government agency, public benefit corporation, and some public authorities, those purchases must be made through the Preferred Source Program. NYSID is a facilitating agency of the program and is the only Preferred Source to offer surface coatings as a Preferred Source Commodity.

History of Passonno Paints
In 1920, Fred Passonno began working in a small paint store in Troy, NY before joining the Benjamin Moore Company of New York as manager of Eastern Regional Sales. After a transfer to Cleveland, he became General Manager of Benjamin Moore’s Midwest Division, where he obtained the experience required to operate a paint factory.
